Tim Horvath

Tim Horvath is a 57-year-old retired military veteran who served his country for 32 years, followed by 21 years as a police officer. Today, he continues serving others as a nurse. He is married to his best friend, Kris, and together they have five children, ranging in age from 17 to 32.

Tim was diagnosed with hormone receptor-positive (HR+), HER2-negative invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) in May 2022. He underwent a left mastectomy in June 2022, followed by 20 rounds of radiation therapy, and remains on tamoxifen. Genetic testing was negative, leading physicians to believe his breast cancer was caused by environmental factors.

Rather than letting cancer define him, Tim has embraced a warrior mindset, facing every challenge with resilience, determination, and a healthy sense of humor. Affectionately adopting the call sign “Nip Solo,” he uses his story to educate others about male breast cancer whenever he has the opportunity. His memorable advice to men “Check your taters and your tots” sparks conversations, encourages questions, and helps raise awareness about the importance of early detection.
