Dr. Chrysopoulo is a board-certified plastic surgeon, breast reconstruction surgeon and microsurgeon, and President of PRMA Plastic Surgery in San Antonio, TX. He specializes in state-of-the-art breast reconstruction with a particular focus on perforator flap breast reconstruction, techniques to maximize aesthetic outcomes, and restoring sensation after mastectomy. Under his leadership, PRMA has become one of the busiest breast reconstruction practices in the world, routinely welcoming patients from across the globe.
Raised and educated in London, Dr. Chysopoulo’s academic achievements earned him admission to University College London Medical School where he received several prestigious awards including the Anatomy Departmental Award for academic excellence, the Amulree Elective Award for high academic placement, the Goldsmid Scholarship and Exhibition for overall academic proficiency, and the Eric Pearce Gould Bursary for overall clinical proficiency. In 1997, he moved from London to Texas and continued his training in general surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio prior to his fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. During his training, he won the prestigious D. Ralph Millard, MD Investigator Award, Plastic Surgery Education Foundation (PSEF) Scholarship Contest (1998). He has also completed fellowships in burn research at Shriner’s Burn Hospital for Children in Galveston, and hand surgery and microsurgery at the Indiana Hand Center and Indiana University.
Dr, Chrysopoulo has dedicated his professional life to advocating for breast cancer patients, and strongly believes that shared decision-making between the physician and patient is crucial in achieving the best treatment outcomes. Dr. Chrysopoulo is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is an active member of the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery (ASRM), and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) for which he serves on several educational committees. He has authored and co-authored several book chapters and scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals on breast reconstruction-related topics, and is routinely an expert speaker at regional, national and international academic meetings.
