My Primary VA Doctor told me, at my annual checkup, I should start checking myself, she had a Veteran previously that had Breast Cancer. 4 or 5 years later I felt a lump in my right breast. She told me to schedule a Mammogram with a out of VA provider. Everyone thought would calcium deposit from Blood pressure medicine. It was a cancerous tumor. I had double Mastectomy on Thursday, May 4, 2017. Stayed in Hospital overnight, dismissed Friday morning. Saturday went to Grandson’s baseball game, Sunday was in Sunday School and Church. DNA showed was estrogen driven. Was considered Stage 2, fortunately was contained, lymph nodes were clear. No Radiation or Chemo required. Tamoxifen prescribed for 5 years, hopefully will stop by July of 2022.
